Our Day At Lord's - Send Your Clips and Photos
If you’re going to Lord’s on Sunday, can I ask a favour? I want to create a video diary that records our day from many different personal points of view, using clips and photos from as many different people as possible. The final video will be about 20 minutes long and can go on the club Youtube channel to serve as a permanent reminder of the big day. Would you like to contribute? All you need is your phone and your thumb, and to remember to get them both out periodically dur

Pete and Izzy - We'll Get Them To The Ground On Time!
“I’m playing cricket in the morning, Ding dong, Lord’s Bell is going to chime. Pull out the stopper, let’s get a chopper, But get me to the ground on time!” (with apologies to Lerner and Loewe, composers of My Fair Lady) UPDATE What started almost as a joke, then became an appeal for funds within Blackheath Cricket Club, has ended up as a nationwide news story, covered by the BBC, The Times, the Sunday Telegraph, Test Match Special and other radio stations. Donations have

Blackheath Women - The MCC Are Coming
While the Blackheath Men's 1st XI prepare for their National Village Cup Final at Lord's on 6th September, for the Blackheath Women, Lord's is coming to them! Tomorrow evening (Thursday 20th August at 5.30pm) they host an MCC Women's XI in a match that marks a big step forward for our club. Very few women's club sides get a fixture against a team from cricket's HQ, and this honour reflects the huge strides that they have made this season. If you fancy an hour or two in tomorr

Cricket Week - The Days Of Our Lives
England's brown and pleasant land. Blackheath Cricket Week August 2026. A review of Cricket Week 2026 A cricket club such as ours is nothing without its history and traditions, its characters and personalities, its stories and legends, but every tradition and every legend has to start somewhere and very often our annual Cricket Week is that place. In recent years the focus of the club has rightly moved more and more towards its junior section and the family atmosphere of Frid

Lord's, We're Coming Home!
Team, supporters, and Billie... Nobody panic, but in this most extraordinary of summers little Blackheath, with it’s quirky tree-in-the-middle village cricket ground, it’s “This Way, That Way” road sign, its 200 residents, and its “No not that Blackheath, you’re in the wrong county you idiot!” instructions to delivery drivers, has reached the national final of our nation’s summer sport. Our team is going to play at the home of world cricket, Lord’s! It’s been quite some journ

Kenya Tour March 2027
View from the pavilion at the Nairobi Club, home of the Kenya Kongonis A few months ago, I emailed everyone about the opportunity be part of a very special cricket tour: a pre-season tour to Kenya in March 2027 to help celebrate the centenary of the Kenya Kongonis. There was interest in principle from quite few Blackheath players in joining the tour, but the original tour program was a highly ambitious one, involving being away for more than 2 weeks. In the light of feedbac

Into the last four ...
The Melhuish brothers lead the victorious team from the field The dream is still alive! From the many hundreds of villages from all over the country who entered teams in the National Village Cup back in January, Blackheath (population 200) is now one of just four still remaining in the competition, and we are just one win away from the final at Lord’s. 29 years after the club last reached the quarter-final stage, our young team – including 3 teenagers and 8 who came thro

National Village Cup - We're Still Flying High!
As the heatwave of 2026 extends its grip the outfield at Blackheath may be turning an alarming shade of brown, but our prospects in the National Village Cup continue to be pink and rosy. Despite our first-ever victory in Kent a couple of weeks ago we started the Round of 16 tie at home on Sunday 5th July as underdogs. Thanks to our amazing junior section and its production line of talent this is probably the strongest Blackheath side there has ever been, but with 4 teenagers,

Cricket Week 2026
Cricket week, the highlight of our cricketing and social year, is now only just over 3 weeks away. As usual, there are matches every day between Monday 3rd and Friday 7th August. This year the Friday will be a special Billie Hockley Memorial Match, followed by a Barn Dance, which we hope will be a great family occasion for members and villagers alike. The bar will be open every afternoon, tea will be available for supporters as well as players, and there will be home-cooked s
