Girls' Cricket

Our girls’ section has grown rapidly over the past few years and in 2021 numbered around 80 girls.  It is based at our newly developed ground and pavilion at Grafham, which is the dedicated home of Blackheath Women and Girls' Cricket.

In 2022 the girls will be coached by the same team of professional coaches as in 2021, augmented by an overseas player/coach whose main role will be in supporting our girls' section. Each squad will have professional squad manager who will run all their squad's coaching sessions and as many as possible of their squad's matches, supported as necessary by other professional coaches and volunteer parent coaches.

In addition to entering a team in the U14 Surrey Hardball Development League for our U13s and U14s, in 2022 we will be entering a second hardball team at U12 level, aimed at both our U12s and our stronger U11s.  As in 2021, we will also be entering a softball team in U11 Surrey SmashIt League for our U11/U10 squad, while the U9/U8 squad will be playing in several festivals and we expect to arrange at least one tournament for the U7/U6 squad.  We will not be running a separate U15 girls' team in 2022, however our U15s will be able to play alongside slightly older girls as part of our women's team, who will for the first time this year be playing hardball as well as softball matches within the I'Anson League structure.

Summer coaching programme

There will be pre-season training for the older squads in the Easter holidays.  Summer training sessions for all the girls’ age groups will be on Thursday evenings at Grafham starting on 21 April 2022. The timing of sessions will be similar to last year, except that the U11/U10 girls will be training at the same time as the U6/U7 and U8/U9 girls from 4.45pm to 6.00pm, to create more space for U14/U13 and U12 girls to train alongside the women from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Subscriptions for 2022 are as follows: U6-U9 girls: £90; U10-U14 girls: £110.  There is a £10 sibling discount.
