Girls' Cricket

Our girls’ section has grown rapidly over the past few years and in 2020 numbered around 60 girls. A further significant expansion is planned in 2021, made possible by the redevelopment our new ground and pavilion at Grafham, which will be the dedicated home of Blackheath Women and Girls' Cricket. The redevelopment is now substantially complete and a formal opening ceremony is planned for June 2021, which we hope will involve a member of the England women's team.

In 2021 our women and girls section will once again be headed up by Sharon Eyers of Middlesex CCC, assisted by our Women's Captain, Helen Mansell (who also takes on the new role of Assistant Women & Girls Manager) and several other professional coaches, who will between them run all coaching sessions.

There will be 4 girls squads, the U14/U12 squad in the U14 Surrey Hardball Development League and the U11/U10 squad in the Surrey SmashIt League, while the U9/U8 squad will be playing in several festivals and we expect to arrange at least one tournament for the U7/U6 squad. Girls’ matches are usually played on Sunday afternoons, with most home matches at Grafham.  Older girls who want to will also have the opportunity of playing alongside our women's team in various softball matches and tournaments.

Covid-19 restrictions unfortunately mean that it is not practical to run indoor training sessions this winter, however there will be pre-season training for the older squads in the week commencing 12 April 2021.  Summer training sessions for all the girls’ age groups will be on Thursday evenings from Thursday 22 April 2021, at Grafham. Planned session times are: U7/U6 and U9/U8 squads from 4.45pm to 6.00pm; U11/U10 and U14/U12 squads from 6.30pm to 8pm. The bar will be open every Thursday evening and we hope food will also be available.

Subscriptions for 2021 are as follows: U6-U9 girls: £90; U10-U14 girls: £110.  There is a £10 sibling discount.
