If you’re going to Lord’s on Sunday, can I ask a favour? I want to create a video diary that records our day from many different personal points of view, using clips and photos from as many different people as possible. The final video will be about 20 minutes long and can go on the club Youtube channel to serve as a permanent reminder of the big day.

Would you like to contribute? All you need is your phone and your thumb, and to remember to get them both out periodically during the day. Afterwards when you’re ready to send in your contributions, just click the button above where you’ll find a simple File Upload form.

So, what sort of shots do we need? We all know what Lord’s looks like, and we all know what a cricket match looks like, so while it will be great to get some clips of those what I’m really interested in is the people, and the day we all experience together. I want the final video to answer these questions…

— How did we get there and who did we travel with?

— Who was at the match, who did we meet?

— How did the match unfold, and what were we all thinking as it did?

— How did the story end?

A few do’s and don’ts…

— DO video literally anything. Your breakfast boiled egg and soldiers are a part of the story, just as the wickets and runs are.

— DO include yourself, your friends and family in the shot. We all know what a train looks like as it pulls into Guildford station, but what we want to know is who got on it and rode to London?

— DO chat while you film, both to us the audience and to your friends. Doesn’t matter if the conversation is trivial, it’s all part of the atmosphere, and I can always choose to leave out your sound if it doesn’t fit the narrative.

— DON’T make the clip too long. 20 seconds is probably a good rule of thumb.

— DO try to be selective in what you submit. I don’t want to miss an unexpected nugget, but I also don’t want to spend hours trawling through views of your feet or the inside of your pocket.

So, whether you’re travelling by helicopter or hansom cab, with your mates or your mother-in-law, in the players’ balcony or the public bar, and whether your day ends with langoustines in the Long Room, a victory vindaloo in Victoria… or just a tragic, tear-filled toastie on the Tube… let's cover as many angles as we can! I can’t promise to use one of your clips, but the more contributions I get the better the story will be.
