Blackheath Women Make Lord's Debut!

To misquote a very old joke "Excuse me, but what's the best way to get to Lord's Cricket Ground?" "Practice, practice, practice!". Or alternatively, "First join the Blackheath Women's squad... and then practice, practice, practice".

Yesterday (17th April) Blackheath were invited to take part in a softball cricket showcase at lunchtime on the main ground at Lord’s, as part of MCC women’s day. Lots of fours and a six scored, plus wickets taken!

Organised through the MCC connections of Lucy Horitz and captained by Helen Mansell, it was quite some way to kick off the season, especially for our brand new overseas player Lily-May Lyndon who had only stepped off the plane from Melbourne, Australia a few hours earlier.

The season starts in earnest next Sunday 26th April with a softball game against Farnham CC (at Farnham), and the first hard ball match is the following Sunday at Grafham against Pirbright.
