Registration for the Blackheath junior section in 2024 is now open for existing members. For details of plans for the new season (including the winter training programme where applicable), see the Boys, Girls and Minis pages of the website.
Existing members’ priority window
As usual, most squads are full with waiting lists, so there is an existing members’ priority window, which ends on SATURDAY 6TH JANUARY 2024. After that, those on waiting lists for the relevant squads will be contacted and offered any available places.
If your child was a member in 2023 and you intend to register them again for 2024, please don't leave it until after the priority window has ended, as you may find the place is no longer available. Every year this happens to one or two people – make sure it is not you!
Please also note that those wanting to do winter training need to sign up for that separately, after registering as members: see below. Numbers for these sessions are strictly limited and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Squads and subscriptions
We will be running junior squads in broadly the same age groups in 2024 as in 2023. However, in 2024 we will in addition be running an U16 boys team, which will play a small number of league matches between mid-June and mid-August following GCSEs.
Despite inflation, subscriptions for all age groups are unchanged in 2024. However, subscriptions vary between age groups, and since juniors are of course all moving up a year this means that in some cases their subscription for 2024 will have changed (for example, because their coaching sessions are longer or they will be playing matches for the first time). For full details of subscriptions, see the Boys, Girls and Minis pages.
Procedure for re-registering an existing member
As usual, registration is done online from the club website and can be done on your pc, tablet or smartphone. Go to blackheathcricket.com, click on “Members” and enter the Username (or email address) and Password you used last year. If you’ve forgotten, follow the prompts to reset your Password. This will take you to your personal Dashboard, where you should select the child you want to re-register under “Your Family” and follow the prompts.
You will find that all the information that you input last year is still stored, so the process should be very quick. However, we ask you to review the information we hold for you, make sure the details are correct and give the necessary consents. Please remember that your registration is not complete until payment has been made.
Adding a child to the waiting list
If you have a child who is an existing member, but would like to sign up a sibling for the first time, this has to be done through the waiting list: log in as above, click on “Add Your Child” and follow the prompts.
Winter training
Starting in January, we are once again offering the option of a full winter training programme for both boys (U8 and older) and girls (U10 and older). All sessions will be run either by members of the Matchfit team of professional coaches or (in the case of the U14 boys) by Chris Poil, and are either on Friday evenings or Sunday mornings: see the winter coaching page of the website for a summary of all the sessions.
If you would like to sign up for these sessions then, once you have re-registered for 2024, go to the relevant page of the website (Boys or Girls) click on the link for the sessions you want to book at the bottom of the page and follow the prompts. Because of limited availability of suitable indoor facilities, numbers for each junior winter coaching session are limited to an average of 12 per squad, which will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Those already on our waiting lists
As explained above, the existing members’ priority window will last until Saturday 6th January 2024. In most cases, we won’t be able to offer places to those on waiting lists until after that priority window has closed. However, in some cases (e.g. our youngest squads or where we are expanding the squad so we know there will be capacity), we may contact you sooner. The length of the waiting list varies from squad to squad, but we are normally able to offer at least a few places to new players in every junior squad.
If you are still interested in a place at Blackheath, there is nothing you need to do for now – we will contact you with news of available places just as soon as we can. If however you are no longer interested in a place, please let us know so we can remove you from our list.
Joining the appropriate waiting list if you are new to the club
If you’re new to the club and your child is not currently on any of our waiting lists, putting their name on the appropriate list is very straightforward: just click on this link and follow the prompts.
There are currently spaces available for 2024 in the Minis and a couple of other boys and girls squads. As regards other squads, the length of the waiting list varies, but we are normally able to offer at least a few places to new players in every squad and the sooner you put your child on the waiting list, the better the chance of a place.
