Women's Cricket

Our women’s team was launched in 2019 and quickly grew rapidly.  Our new ground and pavilion at Grafham, which has been completely redeveloped and was formally opened in July 2021, is now the home of our Women & Girls’ Section, and we believe is the only facility in the county principally dedicated to women's cricket.

In 2021 we entered 2 teams in the new I’Anson women’s softball league, and our Softball Stars made it all the way through to Finals Day. However our older girls have been playing hardball cricket for a while now and in 2022 the Blackheath women (which also includes U15-U18 girls) will be playing hardball as well as softball games against other I’Anson League clubs.

Winter training

Our winter training programme will be running from 2pm-3.15pm on Sunday afternoons starting on 9 January 2022.  The programme has been arranged with both hardball and softball cricket in mind and is split between 2 venues, St Catherine’s School in Bramley and Cranleigh School.  The sessions at St Catherine’s School will be concentrating particularly on developing technical batting skills using soft balls.  However, the majority of the sessions are at Cranleigh School, where there will hard ball training in the nets as well as some continuing soft ball training.  For further details and to sign up click here: winter coaching.

Summer training

In the summer, training will again take place at Grafham on Thursday evenings from 6.30pm-8pm.  This year the coaching team will be strengthened by an overseas player/coach, who will have particular responsibility for the women and older girls.

Subscriptions for the women's section in 2022 are £50 (which includes all match fees).  We are keen to attract new members of all standards and would love to hear from you. Please contact Helen or Sue (see below) for more details.
