Boys' Cricket

In the 2022 season we will offer cricket for boys at every year group from U6 up to U14 (there will be a combined youth squad for U15s-U18s). Average squad size at each age group is around 30 and although most of them currently have waiting lists we always try to accommodate as many new members as we can.

Our cricket is inclusive, family-focused, and fun but we also set very high standards for our best young players, some of whom are in county squads.  In 2022, our U13s and U14s will both be playing in the top tier of the Surrey Junior Cricket Championship (SJCC), against the best teams in the county.  All the younger age groups down to U8s have have multiple teams in appropriate tiers of the SJCC, which means that every boy gets opportunities to play in matches. Though our U7s and U6s don't play league matches we organise occasional tournaments for them too.  The U10s and above play hardball cricket and the U9s and below softball, although in 2022 there will also be an U9s hardball team.

We have a large team of young professional coaches, several of whom also work for Surrey Cricket, led by our highly experienced Head Coach, Chris Poil.  All coaching sessions are professionally run (usually by several of the coaching team), although some parents help out as administrators and also assist with the coaching and running matches.

Summer coaching programme

After pre-season coaching outdoors in the Easter holidays, the regular summer coaching sessions will start in the week commencing 18 April and continue until mid-July.  Summer coaching will follow much the same schedule as in 2021: the U6, U7, U8, U9, U11 and U12 boys' training sessions will take place at Blackheath on Friday evenings, but U10 and U13 boys will train on Tuesdays and U14 boys will train on Wednesdays.  The U15-U18 boys will not receive scheduled professional coaching, but will be invited to train alongside the seniors.

Subscriptions for 2022 are unchanged from last year and are as follows: U6/U7 boys: £90; U8 boys: £110; U9-U14 boys £130; U15-U18 boys: £60.  There is a £10 sibling discount.
